Maths - continuing with reading and answering questions on Tally Charts! Today there are some more challenges! 

 

Spellings - adding suffixes beginning with a vowel (er/ed/ing) to words with more than one syllable.

 

English - today's session is about choosing the correct verbs and adverbs to use in our setting description. Looking at how things move on the factory floor (e.g. the waterfall, the river, the apples, the trees etc.)

 

Art - today you are going to have a practise at some pointilism techniques. You start by using the base colour, the closer the dots are the more of a shadow it is going to create, you could also use black to create shadow. The further the dots are the more of a shine you're drawing.

Maths - continuing with reading and answering questions on Tally Charts! Today there are some questions to answer plus a challenge question.... 

 

Spellings - adding suffixes beginning with a vowel (er/ed/ing) to words with more than one syllable. 

 

English - today we are going back to the picture of Mr Wonka's factory floor, looking at the nouns it's now our job to create sentences that use expanded noun phrases (adjective, adjective noun). Reading - our book this week is The Day the Crayons Quit! Todays reading session is using the front cover to predict what the story could be about, then read the blurb and see if their prediction make up. 

 

Maths - today's maths lesson is about interpreting a tally chart and then creating your own tally chart.

 

Spellings - adding suffixes beginning with a vowel (er/ed/ing) to words with more than one syllable. 

 

English - Using a senses table to generate some descriptive vocabulary, you can even use your own chocolate and sweets to help you generate the vocabulary for describing Mr Wonka's factory floor. 

 

Geography - your task today is to label the equator, the hemispheres, the tropics, the poles and the biomes (the tropical zone, the temperate zone and the arctic zone). After that, use the rainforest sheet and label the countries that the rainforests are found in.

Reading - Read the last few pages on Egyptian Cinderella and answer the final 5 questions! Complete a review of the story, did you enjoy it? What did you like about it? 

 

Maths - this weeks maths is all about tally charts! 

 

Spellings - adding suffixes beginning with a vowel (er/ed/ing) to words with more than one syllable. 

 

English - we are using prepositions (see word mat to help with this) to help describe using full sentences where things are on Mr Wonka's chocolate factory floor. 

 

History - we are creating a timeline on the history of chocolate! Research/discuss what a timeline is, then use the cards below to put them in order. When that is finished, find out the starting date of some of the chocolate brands and put them on a timeline (e.g. Cadbury, Nestle, Frys, Mars, Lindt etc.)

English - do some drama talk about how they would feel and what they would think if they were entering Mr Wonka's factory.

Maths - more practise of 3 digit numbers addition with 1 digit numbers bridging 10. There is a challenge uploaded for those who need it! 

 

English - we are storyboarding this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMFQtY6655E&safe=active I have uploaded a storyboard to help you know how many boxes you will need. You need to pick the 8 most important/interesting parts of the video and draw them in the boxes. We will be writing a setting description so choose interesting parts!

 

Art - We are going to be looking at an artist called Georges Seurat - there is a question sheet to help you with your research. Look at some of his work, which pieces of do you like the best?
