PE Sports and Physical Activity

At Lyndhurst Community Primary School, we recognise our school context and have designed our PE curriculum with the intent that children see the contribution of physical activity in leading a healthy lifestyle and endeavour to promote active living throughout school.

The school vision ‘Support, Challenge, Inspire’ is interwoven within our PE curriculum intent and design. The breadth of our curriculum is designed with three goals in mind:

Support

We spend time in EYFS and KS1 ensuring children learn the basics of running, jumping, throwing and catching enabling them to access high level PE in later years. Within our PE lessons we ensure every child is able to take part at their level. We reward perseverance, determination, teamwork and sportsmanship and encourage the children to coach and support each other. We help them understand their bodies and how healthy lifestyles will support them in the future.

Challenge

We challenge children to set themselves targets and beat their own personal bests and demonstrate ways they can improve their skills and attitudes. Promoting: Determination, Honesty, Respect, Self-Belief, Passion and Teamwork.  Through these values, every child can be successful. All children are given the opportunity to challenge themselves at outdoor activities both in school and on residetials.

Inspire

Our high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. We  provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities are given to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
